Paul Dunn and David Lickley create pandemic song with a spark of hope

This latest project kind of sprung out of being semi-stranded during the beginning of COVID. I was down in southern Ontario and David was up in Sudbury,  Dunn said. I was learning how to use a recording program and I needed to practise recording tracks and sending them. So I started doing that with Dave. I d sketch out little melodies and create a wav file, send it to Dave, and he d experiment with them and come up with melodies and lyrical lines and that sort of thing. As they moved ideas and iterations back and forth, they created a song.

Florida pair fly Redmond-made plane coast to coast, non-stop

Florida pair fly Redmond-made plane coast to coast, non-stop RDD Ken Wolf (left) and Lin Hough flew LX7 from Redmond to Jacksonville, Florida nonstop in 8 hours and 23 minutes. The 2,100 nautical miles they traveled more than doubles the distance most personal aircraft can go without refueling Thanks to tailwind, we had enough fuel left in the tank to go all the way to Jamaica REDMOND, Ore. That’s exactly what happened on Sunday, April 18 as 79-year-old Ken Wolf and his friend Lin Hough piloted Wolf’s LX7 from RDD headquarters in Redmond to his home in Jacksonville, Florida without a single stop whatsoever, according to the experimental aircraft company, whose news release continues in full below:.

Are summer blockbusters back for real, and is COVID-19 behind us?

By MOIRA MACDONALD The Seattle Times May 5, 2021 38 Last summer, those of us who love going to the movies sat quietly in our homes and dreamed about summer 2021: that mythical post-pandemic time when everything would be back to normal and we could sit in the dark and watch a blockbuster movie on an enormous screen. Well, summer 2021 is almost here, the multiplexes are open and the blockbusters are on their way … but things aren’t quite normal. Most but not all movie theaters have reopened to some degree. And as vaccination rates tick up, more of us may be feeling comfortable returning to in-person screenings. I’m looking forward to seeing a movie in a theater later in May, after I’m fully vaccinated – for the first time in more than a year. (You might see me; I’ll be the woman on the aisle who quite possibly passes out from the intensity – and the joy – of the experience.)

EDUCATION AND THE CURRICULUM This does not have to be an either/or proposition These fears echo John Howard’s early attempts to have a “more balanced” school curriculum emphasising the positive impacts of settlers. He also stated that he did not believe in a “black armband” view of history and that as less than 50 per cent of Aboriginal children had been taken away from their families, there was no basis for talking about a “stolen generation” or related apologies.
