Two Languages House / Pepa Diaz Arquitecta

© David Frutos This is a house that takes position in its place. At PDA we wanted to rethink the need with which many people of this area arrive: obtaining infinite horizontal surfaces with no sense of belonging to the place where they exist when actually most of them present characteristics that allow us to integrate architecture in its surroundings. © David Frutos We have also explored the combination of contemporary languages, moving away from stereotyping currents and styles, obtaining a subtle result, were architecture and nature coexist harmoniously.

Pantone's Color of the Year 2021: Yellow and Grey in Architecture

Copy On December 9, Pantone announced its color(s) of the year for 2021: PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. Selecting two colors for only the second time in 22 years, Pantone described the chosen yellow and gray as independent but complementary, representing a theme of unity and mutual support. Whereas PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is bright and vivacious, PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray is firm and dependable, the marriage of which represents strength, optimism, and fortitude following a markedly challenging year. In architecture, this palette combining playfulness and solemnity has been used in social spaces, domestic spaces, care spaces, and more to communicate similar themes of resilience and positivity. Below are 14 examples of projects using Pantone’s 2021 colors of the year.

A Charismatic + Comfortable Apartment in Murcia, Spain

A Charismatic + Comfortable Apartment in Murcia, Spain 12.21.20 here Lab House is a recently completed project comprising a partial remodel of an apartment in Murcia, Spain. The home had recently been renovated but the client was not happy with the results which led to them hiring Laura Ortín Arquitectura. All of the new materials that had just been used on the previous remodel presented a challenge as it would have been a waste to remove everything and start from scratch. Therefore, the plan was scaled back to work on 60% of the house, which included the living room and main bedroom suite, and to leave the kitchen, a bedroom and bathroom they way they were.
