Starting Wednesday, all adults in North Carolina can get vaccinated for COVID-19. Local vaccine providers are adjusting to an expected surge in people wanting to be vaccinated by allowing walk-ins at area vaccination sites.
The Forsyth County Department of Public Health began Tuesday offering first doses on a walk-in basis at the Winston-Salem Fairgroundsâ Education building at 414 Deacon Blvd.
Joshua Swift, the countyâs health director, said between 45 and 50 people saw the departmentâs Facebook post about the change and came in to be vaccinated.
âThere are some challenges to doing walk-ins,â Swift said. âWeâre doing sort of a Beta test on Wednesday and Thursday. On both days, people can come to the fairgrounds with an appointment between 2 and 4 p.m.
