HRS Hospitality and Retail Systems has announced the appointment of Tan Xiao Chen to the position of General Manager, Sales for HRS China. Mr. Tan will lead the China team in sales & business development and will continue with the expansion of the HRS product and service portfolio.
Mr. Tan, who will be based in the HRS Beijing office, has amassed over 14 years of sales and business development experience, with a specific focus on hospitality IT and multinational industries in China. He previously held senior sales positions and worked closely with key hotel groups and independent hotels.

Daniel s 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry began as the Front Desk/Night Manager at a hotel in Germany, since then his career has blossomed. He was the Director of Client Services at a consulting company, responsible for strategic product advice, market positioning, and benchmarking for small to mid-size hotel chains in the EMEA region. Daniel has also worked for MICROS-Fidelio where he was Vice President of Distribution Services for EMEA, and Senior Director of Hospitality Strategy and Market Segments at Oracle.
What’s new? In February 2020, South Sudan’s two main belligerents began forming a unity government pursuant to a peace deal inked a year and a half earlier. But the pact is fragile, smaller conflicts are still ablaze and the threat of return to full-blown civil war remains.
Why does it matter? Forthcoming elections could test the peace deal severely. Looking further ahead, conflict will continue to plague South Sudan until its leaders forge a political system that distributes power more widely. The cost of cyclical fighting since 2013 has been steep: hundreds of thousands dead and millions uprooted from their homes.
