A number of crime categories saw declines in Battleford in 2020 compared to 2019. Persons offences are down from 125 to 108, business break and enters down from 11 to four, residential break and enters down from 29 to 19, other break and enters holding steady at five, property offences down from 317 to 276, drug offences up from seven to 11, criminal code offences even at 120, traffic collisions up from 15 to 17, impaired operation of a motor vehicle up from 20 to 32 and provincial traffic offences down from 95 to 83. For the fourth quarter, calls for service were up from 263 to 278. In that quarter property offences saw a big jump from 46 in 2019 to 68 in 2020. Meanwhile, criminal code offences were down from 30 to 21.

“Love Island” has been a slow burn for CBS, debuting to tepid ratings in 2019 but Eye execs saw potential in the series, which has been a wildly popular phenomenon in the U.K., were the format was born. The show was renewed for a second season, but had to adjust to a Las Vegas locale in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Love Island” has indeed continued to see a ratings uptick for CBS, and by the end of Season 2 was attracting an audience of 2 million viewers.

A Purple Heart veteran who pleaded guilty in June to defrauding the Veterans Administration and was sentenced this month, said the charges against him are not true.
Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Thomas D. Schroeder sentenced Willie Dosher Cain to five years of probation and ordered him to perform 250 hours of community service, after he pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement in June.
Cain was also ordered to pay more than $903,000 in restitution and to forfeit a modified van and mobility scooter.
“As far as pleading guilty, this I did and you must remember that there are many in the U.S. who have done the same but were innocent,” Cain, 74, said in a statement emailed to The Fayetteville Observer.
