This winter season will be remembered for masks, virtual competition and near-empty venues among other pandemic-related items, but also for the diligence displayed and some cool and noteworthy numbers produced by our Section II athletes in a variety of sports.
Here are 10 of them already in the books, and over the next few weeks there are certain to be a bunch more as this one-of-a-kind campaign squeezes in basketball, hockey and wrestling events before its completion.

After all, there’s no topping perfection.
The right-hander from Schalmont High School rolled his second career 300 game when the Sabres opened their Colonial Council schedule last week with a team victory over La Salle Institute at Sportsman’s Bowl in Rotterdam.
“My goal for the season was a 300 game, an 800 [three-game] series and to lead the Colonial Council in all of the divisions,” Squires said.
The 16-year-old took care of that first objective with 12 consecutive strikes, which included only a brief moment of trepidation on his first ball in the 10th frame.

Those who run the Leeds United Twitter account felt the need to, at the minimum, be a little bit petty after yesterday’s big win over West Brom. They shared a video of Karen Carney giving an opinion they disagree with during Amazon Prime Video Sport’s coverage of the game, a weird approach for a group of people that should just be celebrating.

‘Man Utd’s January transfer plan could go out the window due to two current stars’
It’s blatantly just a ruse to make ‘Man Utd’ and ‘transfer’ in the same headline as it literally offers zero news or insight; all the other words in that headline could literally be anything. If Mediawatch worked at the Daily Star we would slip in a ‘pickle’ or an ‘elephant’. Why not?
We are told that United could abandon their January plan to sign a winger and a centre-half (even though
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and common sense both tell us otherwise) because of two players. And who are these two players who could send these non-existent plans off course? Odion Ighalo and Jesse Lingard, obvs.
