The North Face x Gucci collection dropped last December, complete with puffer jackets, boots, backpacks, graphic tees and more symbolically crafted and curated as practical, luxury items borne of the Italian fashion house and American outdoor brand. Now, artist Sean Vegezzi explores the dynamics of beauty and function that The North Face and Gucci have created, bringing the viewer to an outdoor, wild exploration of the Alps.
The documentary film is a look through the eyes of the creators behind the collaboration, seamlessly and beautifully merging the processes of design, production and release of the collection. Alessandro Michele, Creative Director of Gucci, is featured for conversation, as well as David Whetstone, The North Face Design Manager Global Collaborations, Archives and Special Projects.
Moonrise Kingdom-style adventure? The North Face x Gucci has you (literally) covered.
The luxury house and the classic outerwear brand recently launched a collaboration, and after first debuting in pop-up Gucci Pins because who travels without the aid of a map app these days in China, four The North Face x Gucci pop-ups have opened their doors stateside (in Brooklyn, LA, San Fransisco, and Chicago). Later this month, the collection will launch online and in more Gucci locations.
The brands partnership is informed by two key elements: the look of the 1970s (back when The North Face was casually based next door to Credence Clearwater Revival s practice studio in Berkeley), and sustainability. Luggage pieces feature ECONYL® fabric, a nylon material made from regenerated materials that can itself be recycled, and archival fabrics were also incorporated into the new collection.
