Attorneys for three former Minneapolis officers awaiting trial in George Floyd’s death will be in court Thursday to argue pretrial motions, including a request that prosecutors be sanctioned after media reports that Derek Chauvin had planned to plead guilty a year ago, and allegations that they haven’t disclosed information about the alleged coercion of a witness.
Attorneys for Thomas Lane, J. Kueng and Tou Thao have said they want the court to require prosecuting attorneys to submit affidavits under oath that they aren’t responsible for the leak to the media. In a filing late Wednesday, Thao’s attorney also alleged that the Hennepin County medical examiner was coerced to include “neck compression” in his findings and that prosecutors knew of it.
Three women were arrested Tuesday as the suspects who left blood and a pig's head at the former home of Barry Brodd, a defense expert witness in the murder trial of fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, say Santa Rosa police. They were identified as Kristen Aumoithe, 34, Rowan Dalbey, 20, and Amber Lucas, 35.

There were two developments this week relating to the prosecution of four ex-Minneapolis Police Officers in the death of George Floyd.
First, Minnesota State Court Judge Cahill postponed the trial of the three remaining officers because of the federal indictment last week of those same officers for violating Floyd’s federal civil rights. The three Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, and Thomas Lane were set to have their state court trial take place in August, but Judge Cahill postponed the trial until March 2022 in order to let the federal case proceed first, and also to put some time and distance between the controversial trial of Chauvin and the trial of the other three former police officers.
