According to the United Nations Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect, the definition of ‘War Crimes’ includes: “those violations of international humanitarian law (treaty or customary law) that incur individual criminal responsibility under international law. As a result…war crimes must always take place in the context of an armed conflict, either international or non-international.” Thus, we can establish that the violence unleashed each day in Gaza over the last two weeks constitutes Israeli war crimes. What remains even more clear, however, is that we aren’t receiving news about these on-ground realities from western media but from social media.
Letters: itâs unfair to single out Manchester City fans
Yes, the club is owned by the morally dubious regime of Abu Dhabi, but look at all the other organisations that depend on Gulf cash

As a lifelong Manchester City supporter and season ticket holder (even in the days when we were penniless in the third tier), I read with interest Nick Cohenâs article on the use of our club as a vehicle for Abu Dhabi soft power and the moral issues it throws up (âMan City play beautiful football but it masks the ugliness of their ownersâ, Comment). The assumption is that Manchester City fans have become like âgangstersâ mollsâ and willing accomplices, ignoring the human rights abuses in their thirst for glory.
The problem with mainstream Western media’s coverage of Palestine
A Palestinian man prays as Israeli police gather during clashes at the compound that houses Al-Aqsa Mosque, known to Muslims as Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as Temple Mount, amid tension over the possible eviction of several Palestinian families from homes on land claimed by Jewish settlers in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, in Jerusalem s Old City, May 7, 2021. Palestinians usually get mainstream Western media coverage when they are either protesting or physically confronting Israeli aggression, with their outcry broadly coloured as escalation of violence . Historically, however, there seemed to be no escalation of violence when Israel increases night raids on Palestinian homes or Israeli settlers attack Palestinian farmers.
