Bidder for Oldham & Rochdale DAB announces plans
A consortium made up of Sunrise Radio, the former owners of Revolution Radio, and three local community radio stations is applying for the upcoming small-scale DAB multiplex in Oldham & Rochdale.
The project is driven by Credible Media, which recently sold Revolution to Bauer and Infocus Digital Media, the digital arm of Sunrise Radio, which was involved in the successful bid for the Leeds ssDAB multiplex awarded earlier this year.
Community services on board include Oldham Community Radio, North Manchester FM, and Crescent Radio in Rochdale.
Kevin Bailey, Content Director at Credible Media and Bid Lead, said local collaboration was an important consideration for the consortium: “We’re delighted to be applying to run a multiplex in our local area. We know that Ofcom value access to digital broadcasting and a variety of services on DAB.
A captain at a Georgia police department, which is already using a new technology that the Atlanta Police Department is testing out, says ShotSpotter is a great investigative tool.
“Conceptually, three things solve crimes: witnesses, evidence and confessions. And ShotSpotter is just one of among many tools that we use in an effort to try to attack that,” said Capt. David Gay with the Savanah Police Department.
Gay, who says his department began using ShotSpotter in 2015, was a guest on Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look.”
Gay told show host Rose Scott that since using the precision policing platform, the department has been able to quickly deploy officers to scenes and, in some cases, has been led to additional evidence and witnesses.
