It follows a four-month delay enforced on all commercial property sites due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The construction programme will see up to 500 people employed at peak output on the site, with numbers in the demolition and enabling works set to ramp up to 60 this year following the resumption of activity today.
In addition to getting activity back on the rails, this will, CEO of Limerick Twenty Thirty David Conway stated, be a much-needed boost to the city centre this year.
Two killed in motorcycle wreck in Pueblo County

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colorado â Two people from Pueblo lost their lives Saturday in a wreck on the St. Charles Mesa involving a motorcycle and an SUV. According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash occurred at around 5:30 p.m. when the driver of a 2001 Honda Passport turned in front of the westbound motorcycle rider along the US Hwy 50 bypass at the intersection with Marie Lane.
A 67-year old woman from Pueblo who was a passenger on the Harley Davidson motorcycle died at the scene. The rider, a 59-year old man from Pueblo, was rushed to the hospital but did not survive his injuries.
“At this time, medical health officers have determined there is no need for closure orders for the overall project, or individual project worksites,” it said.
In a separate announcement, BC Hydro said there have been more than 40 cases of COVID-19 reported at Site C since the start of March and that in recent weeks the number of cases has increased. There are now 13 active cases and 100 workers isolating at home or on site.
In total, 93 people working on the project have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic started, according to BC Hydro’s website.
The announcement quoted BC Hydro president and CEO Chris O’Riley saying the “comprehensive plan” to avoid the spread of COVID-19 at the project introduced over the last year includes following health guidelines, daily screening of everyone arriving at the site, scanning people’s temperature when they arrive or leave, and increasing cleaning and physical distancing.
