Crain’s posted a story overnight that touts the use of union labor in Essex Crossing, once the large residential and commercial complex on the former Seward Park urban renewal site is finished. Here’s how the piece leads off:
The developers of Essex Crossing, the massive mixed-use project planned for the Lower East Side, have agreed to staff the complex entirely with union workers, the firms announced Wednesday. BFC Partners, L+M Development Partners and Taconic Investment Partners have inked an agreement with powerful building workers’ union 32BJ SEIU for up to 80 jobs that will eventually be part of the 1,000-unit development. The first phase of the project, where half the units will be affordable, is set to begin this summer. A man missing since Tuesday has been found, Pharr police said.
Oh Friday, the Pharr Police Department announced that David Garza, 56, was found after he was reported missing on Tuesday, April 27.
“Mr. Garza has been located and is well,” the agency said in a news release.
No other information was available.

The Pharr Police Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for a man who has been missing since Tuesday.
David Garza, 56, was reported missing on Tuesday, April 27 according to Pharr police.
He resides on the 4200 block of Obra Vista Ave. and has a mental illness, the department said.
Those who have seen Garza are urged to contact the Pharr Police Department at 956-402-4700.
