Ray Miller, Former Orioles Manager and Longtime Pitching Coach, Dies at 75

By MH Getty Images Ray Miller, manager of the Baltimore Orioles for two seasons in 1998-1999 and longtime pitching coach in several tenures, has died at the age of 75, according to The Baltimore Sun. Miller was born in Tacoma Park, MD and attended high school in Suitland. He became a professional baseball pitcher but never made it to the MLB. Instead, Miller got into coaching. He made his way to become a coach for the Orioles in 1978 under manager Earl Weaver, tutoring notable pitchers Jim Palmer, Mike Boddicker, Mike Flanagan, Steve Stone and Scott McGregor. He was also part of the Orioles staff when they won the World Series in 1983.

ESPN sets launch of 1986 Mets documentary, Once Upon a Time in Queens

Once Upon a Time in Queens, will debut later this year. The title and launch timeline was released on Tuesday. Although a specific release date has yet to be announced, ESPN confirmed that Nick Davis, the director of the PBS documentary Ted Williams: The Greatest Hitter Who Ever Lived,  is directing and producing the series along with executive producers Jimmy Kimmel, Sal (Cousin Sal) Iacono, Kimmelot’s Scott Lonker and MLB s global senior director of media, Nick Trotta. The never-before-seen footage will feature Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Keith Hernandez, Lenny Dykstra, Mookie Wilson and manager Davey Johnson, among others.  In  86, the Mets rode a franchise-best 108–54 record to their second-ever World Series title. New York came back from a 2–0 series deficit to defeat the Red Sox in seven games in a series that was highlighted by Bill Buckner s infamous 10th-inning error in Game 6.
