Demons and Golden Hawk Track Set for Mount Pleasant Meet

The first coed meet of the 2021 track season is tonight for the Washington and Mid-Prairie track teams when they make a trip to Mount Pleasant. The Washington boys are coming off of a West Burlington meet on Monday where Lance Sobaski won a pair of events in the 1600m and 800m while Elijah Morris was the fastest runner in the 400m dash. The Demon girls opened the season in the same meet and Grace Voss led them with a title in the 800m and fourth in the high jump. The Mid-Prairie boys competed in Washington last week and placed second in their division in large part to five event champions. Thaddeus Shetler took home the top spot in the 3200m and 800m run, Clarke Latchem in the 110m hurdles, Jamie Stutzman in the 1600m, and the distance medley relay team. This will be the first competition of the season for the Golden Hawk girls.

Pella Boys Headed to 3A Title Game

It was another grind it out affair at the state tournament for the Pella High boys basketball team, with a stifling defensive effort leading the way in a 46-32 victory over Sergeant Bluff-Luton heard live on 92.1 KRLS.  With the win, the Little Dutch are headed to their first state title game since 2010 later today. With Pella matching the Warriors’ slow-down style on offense, the score was just 17-12 in favor of the Little Dutch heading into halftime.  They started to stretch that lead in the third quarter, capping it off with a hustle bucket by junior Karl Miller at the buzzer to open a 30-21 lead.
