Half of hospitalised Covid-19 patients suffered at least one complication: UK study

SINGAPORE - A large-scale study covering 302 hospitals in Britain has found that half the patients hospitalised for Covid-19 suffered at least one complication, with some possibly leading to long-term health problems such as kidney failure. The study, involving more than 73,000 patients aged 19 years and older, found that such complications occurred even in those who were young and healthy. It has just been published in the renowned British medical journal, The Lancet. The article said: Many of the complications identified are likely to have important long-term effects. Healthcare systems and policymakers should prepare for increases in population morbidity arising from Covid-19 and its subsequent complications.
