Kieran Powell played brilliantly but he narrowly missed out on a hundred on the third day of the four-day ‘Best v Best’ West Indies intra-squad practice match at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia on Wednesday.
The left-handed opener was dismissed for 95 as Jahmar Hamilton’s XI ended the day on 218 for four. They will resume on Thursday with a good chance of reaching the victory target of 311 set by Jermaine Blackwood’s XI.
Raymon Reifer ended the day unbeaten on 22 to follow up his 60 not out in the first innings and with him fellow left-hander Paul Palmer Jr on 15 not out. There were also solid knocks from Shamarh Brooks (39) and left-handed opener Shayne Moseley (36) as they shared partnerships of 82 and 63 with Powell.

CASTRIES – South Africa touched down on Tuesday in St. Lucia for their Tour of the Caribbean, marking only the second international series in the Caribbean since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The South Africans will play two Tests at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG) in St. Lucia and five Twenty20 Internationals at the National Cricket Stadium (NCS) in Grenada and will now undergo three days of quarantine and must return two negative PCR tests before being allowed to train.
Following quarantine, the Proteas are expected to play a two-day practice match in preparation for the first Test, which starts on June 10 at the DSCG.
