AS we hurtle gratefully towards the end of 2020 and the promise of mass vaccination in the new year, everyone is looking for ways to bring a bit of Christmas sparkle to our corona-restricted festive season. The theatres may be closed, but Scotland’s stage artists have stepped up to the plate, offering a veritable cornucopia of online Yuletide entertainment. Christmas isn’t Christmas without pantomime, and nowhere does the traditional panto, complete with fabulously unsubtle dames and madcap humour, quite like Scotland. In fact, the Caledonian pantomime is such a phenomenon that actor, writer and director Neil John Gibson has made a mockumentary about it (think Spinal Tap with sequins).
