Why are vaccination roll-out targets being missed?!

Waterford, Ireland / WLR Mar 4, 2021 11:43 AM Why are targets being missed with our vaccinations roll-out and is confidence in the HSE’s ability to deliver, as promised, being shaken?! Sharp criticisms were reportedly made of the programme at separate parliamentary party meetings of both Fianna Fail and Fine Gael last night while family doctors have also criticised shortcomings in communications and inconsistencies in delivery schedules. Dr Tadhg O’Carroll from Waterford city, told Damien Tiernan this morning that he was late receiving delivery of the correct syringes for the vaccine they had rolled out thus far in his practise. He said it was possible it would have been able to vaccinate up to 12 extra people with the vaccine they received, if the syringes had been the right size.

Joy as schoolkids return to the classroom

Over 300 thousand students have returned to their classrooms this morning. Leaving Certificate students and the first four years of primary school are the first to go back to school since the Christmas break. At Cappoquin national school around 100 of the 193 students will be present. The school has two ASD units and 10 children returned to those classrooms last Monday. Principal Martin Delaney said overall both the staff and students were delighted to get back, and although there was some apprehension he believes the phased return is sensible. Fundraising campaign launched to Bring John Home …

Waterford, Ireland / WLR Mar 1, 2021 11:21 AM A FUNDRAISING campaign to bring a Waterford man – currently recovering from serious illness in Dun Laoighaire’s National Rehabilitation Hospital – has just been launched. The partner of 45-year-old John Upton, and his daughter, are hoping to raise 150,000 through a ‘GoFundMe’ campaign to modify their home so that John, who has been in the Dublin facility for over one year, can return home to Waterford and his loving family. John was rushed to hospital with a severe headache in December 2019 where doctors discovered a clot on his brain stem, leaving him unable to walk. His recovery is slow and he’s having to regain his ability to use his hands, and speak.
