An aspiring nurse was overcome with emotions when she was given a life-changing sum which she hopes will honour the long line of nurses in her family.
Sundale carer, Shannon Lee, was the inaugural recipient of the Sir Clem Renouf Scholarship and received a $10,000 grant.
“I cried when I found out I had been successful,” Ms Lee said.
“I have spent the past 18 years looking after my family. The Sir Clem Renouf Scholarship will transform my future.”
Ms Lee said the money will be spent on course fees at TAFE Queensland becoming an Enrolled Nurse.
“I come from a long line of nurses. Both my nan and great nan were nurses,” Ms Lee said.
