It would not be wrong to describe the global COVID-19 pandemic as a war.
Death, destruction of the social and economic fabric of society, along with the fear and dread that comes with a mortal threat. Those who have been through actual military conflict may beg to differ, but for most of the rest of us, this is war.
It begs an important question: why aren t we using a wartime mindset to guide our response?
There has been an undeniable lack of urgency in many aspects that seems out of step with the scope and nature of the threat posed by COVID-19.

Artists were given plenty of space for creativity and expression when Cre8ery gallery executive director Jordan Miller asked members to use Space as a theme for a new exhibition.
She did offer a few words of advice. When she suggested space, she said she didn t want to see any little green men in the images that people submitted, photographer Drew Perry says. I did have some images of light on ice sculptures that did have an alien quality to them that was tempting, but I resisted that.

Josh Ward, 1JustCity’s community facilitator, said Saturday its West End site in the St. Matthews-Maryland Community Ministry, at 365 McGee St., will now be open on Saturday and Sunday through the winter until May.
