OAKLAND It’s one thing to hit your first home run. It’s another thing to do it in front of friends and family. And it’s another thing to do it in the place you grew up.
Daniel Johnson born and raised in Vallejo, Calif., about 30 miles north of the Oakland Coliseum hit the first home run of his career, a go-ahead blast, in Cleveland’s 4-2 win over the A’s in Sunday afternoon’s series finale. With family and friends in attendance to witness the milestone in the stadium where Johnson’s love of the game developed, the moment almost felt too surreal to be true.

OAKLAND, Calif. – Daniel Johnson made some personal history on Sunday, hitting his first major league homer and helping the Cleveland Indians beat the Oakland 4-2.
It looks like Johnson also made some history for his old school.
The New Mexico State alumnus is thought to be the first former Aggie to have homered in a big league game. Baseball-reference.com lists him as one seven former New Mexico State players to have reached the big leagues, none of whom has been credited with a home run. Until Sunday.
