The federal minister of environment and climate change is sounding the alarm on how climate change could impact Newfoundland and Labrador. I know everyone s looking at the icebergs that you can see off the coast that may be nice, may be a good tourist attraction, but it s also very dangerous, said Catherine McKenna, who was in St. John s on Thursday. And we will see more of that, more multi-year ice that is separating and coming south. That s an issue for folks who are out on the waters.

While he says he’s a “long way” from being Canada’s Top Mayor, he was invited by the group that hands out the award to participate in the “Bring Your Eh Game” trivia night with other Mayors.

“The whole show is basically like sitting around and having a beverage with friends,” Smith explains. According to Canada’s Top Mayor Award’s Facebook page, $2,500 was raised during the episode for Foodbanks Canada’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. St. John s firefighters grounded, as helicopter rescue team remains in holding pattern
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department’s helicopter rescue team has been out of commission for nearly a year, CBC News has learned, due to delays in equipping the choppers now tasked with the job.
