Photos Show Living Conditions of 7 Children Allegedly Left Alone in North Miami Beach Home

Last year, the 35-year-old pleaded not guilty to child neglect charges. She submitted a written plea and did not appear before the judge.  Prosecutors say the children, ages 4 to 17, were living alone in a home near Perez and her husband, Henry Laso, along with their 2-month-old daughter. The children told detectives at times they didn t have any food and any clean clothes and would rather be living in foster care. Right now they re all under the care of the Department of Children and Families.  Police also arrested Laso in October of 2020. After a three hour standoff with Laso, officers arrested him and gave his 2-month-old daughter over to the Department of Children and Families. The child was unharmed. 

No Charges Against Miami Police in Ciarah Ramirez Crash

The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office has cleared Miami police officers of criminal wrongdoing in a vehicle chase of Dalton McKenzie, who killed Ciarah Ramirez in a hit-and-run in May of 2020.

Florida Man, Who Stabbed Classmate at Least 40 Times in 2004, Dies in Prison

A Florida man has died in prison while serving a life sentence for the deadly stabbing of his middle school classmate in 2004. Michael Hernandez, now 31, was seen on surveillance video collapsing to the floor. Reports said an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death, according to Crime Online. Hernandez was formally declared dead at a hospital in Lake City near the prison. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) will investigate the incident. There were no signs that he had been attacked. The Miami-Dade State Attorney s Office has released a statement with regards to Michael Hernandez s death.

Florida teen was drunk and high in crash that killed 4 people, prosecutors say By Associated Press (Courtesy: Miami-Dade State Attorney s Office) MIAMI - A 16-year-old Miami teen was drunk and high early on New Year s morning when he crashed into a car that turned in front of him, killing four people, prosecutors allege. The teen, who only had a driver s learning permit, had taken his mother s car to take a friend home around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 when the crash happened on West Flagler Street in Miami. A judge on Friday ruled that the teen should be held in jail until his trial, even though he had no previous criminal record and had volunteered to be placed on closely supervised house arrest, the Miami Herald reported.

Luis was also armed, and a shootout between him and the three suspects ensued, with Clarke and Luis hit by gunfire, the warrant said. The warrant said Luis drove away from the drive-thru area but returned and found Clarke incapacitated on the ground. Luis then used Clarke s gun and fired at Clarke more than ten times, the warrant said. Clarke was pronounced dead at the scene. Luis was shot in his left bicep and right hand and was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center for treatment. Miami-Dade Corrections Christopher Luis In a statement released Thursday, the Miami-Dade State Attorney s Office said forensic medical evidence and doctors who performed an autopsy on Clarke determined he received two fatal gunshot wounds during the initial shooting, before Luis returned.
