On the heels of the six-year agreement between George Springer and the Toronto Blue Jays, here is a look back at some of the largest and most impactful free-agent signings in team history.

If Hyun-Jin Ryu’s signing last winter was the start of a new era for the Toronto Blue Jays, George Springer’s deal was an all-in commitment to it. That’s always been the plan.
Words like flexibility, patience and control were often mentioned the last few years by president Mark Shapiro and general manager Ross Atkins when it came to player acquisition.

Devon White turns 58 today.
Devon was a 6th round pick 1981 amateur draft by the
Angels. He made it up to the Angels for a cup of coffee in 1985 and 1986. His first full season in the majors was 1987, where Devon came in 5th in Rookie of the Year voting. He hit 24 home runs as a rookie, the most he would ever hit in the majors, and he had 87 RBI, also a career-high.
The Angels grew to see him as a disappointment. He couldn’t get his OBP over .300 and wouldn’t again show the same power he had in his rookie season.

Fans of Junior C hockey in the province may or may not see their teams on the ice this season.
The move to a Code Red alert in several regions places the start of the season in doubt.
The League had hoped to get underway with a February 1, 2021 start to the new season.
This comes after the start date was already pushed back twice.
The League issued a statement that they were planning for the February start, but that was before health units started moving some regions into a Code Red which will affect the number of people allowed in a building.
