Gandhinagar, Jan 22 : The Gujarat government on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the private infrastructure company, Adani Port & SEZ Ltd., to setup the country s largest multi-modal logistics park at Sanand with an estimated investment of Rs 50,000 crore.
The proposed 1,450 acre park will have a dedicated air cargo complex with 4.6 km long runway to handle even large sized cargo aircraft and will offer direct air, rail and road connectivity. It will also have a provision of direct rail connectivity with dedicated freight corridor which is par

With Gajendra Haldea’s demise, a former 1973 batch IAS officer, on January 15 at the age of 71, the country has lost a selfless infrastructure expert who was entirely devoted to infrastructure projects and its implementation in the recent decades.
From saving thousands of crores for the central exchequer through his astute advice on rejecting the one-sided contracts proposed by foreign power producers such as Enron to being the architect of the institutional and policy framework on infrastructure besides the standardised model documents for attracting private participation in infrastructure projects, Haldea’s contribution was immense and noteworthy.
Japan International Cooperation Agency has extended a cumulative total of 464,267 million Japanese yen (approximately Rs 33,000 crore) in official development assistance for the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor project up to now, the agency said on Thursday. The remarks by Katsuo Matsumoto, Chief Representative, JICA India, came at an event at which Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the 306-km New Rewari-New Madar section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) to the nation. Suzuki Satoshi, Ambassador of Japan to India, attended the ceremony and flagged off this project together with other dignitaries, a statement issued by JICA said. Japan has been providing funds and expertise for the dedicated freight railway system having route length of approximately 1,500 km, which has been constructed, under the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor project, along the Industrial Corridor between Dadri-Delhi and Mumbai.

Key Highlights
The opening of this stretch will benefit various industries in Rewari – Manesar, Narnaul, Phulera and Kishangarh areas of Rajasthan & Haryana and will also enable better usage of the container depot of CONCOR at Kathuwas.
This section will also ensure seamless connectivity with the western ports of Kandla, Pipavav, Mundhra, and Dahej situated in Gujarat.
With the inauguration of this section, seamless connectivity between the WDFC and EDFC will be achieved. Earlier the 351-km New Bhaupur- New Khurja section of the EDFC was dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister on 29th December 2020.
