Representative Image GREATER NOIDA: Heeding to the long-pending demands of the villagers who gave up their land for the development of Greater Noida, GNIDA on Saturday decided to set up a skill development centre for them. The authority will also set up a separate department to streamline its working. The centre will be established in the GNIDA office compound in Knowledge Park 4. Narendra Bhooshan,CEO of the authority, said, “It will be set up within the next 100 days and by the end of May, the first batch will be ready.” The authority decided swiftly on this front as farmers affected by the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) had threatened to stop work in the absence of employment opportunities. The Greater Noida authority officials on Saturday held a meeting with senior officials of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, the agency executing the DMIC project, and sought their support.

Greater Noida: Farmers from four villages, who have been protesting outside the Greater Noida Authority’s office building in Knowledge Park IV since January 20, on Thursday threatened to disrupt work on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). For the past fortnight, the protesters from Palla, Pali, Katehra and Chithehra villages have been taking turns to hold hunger strikes and female family members from the villages are also participating. However their demands have not been heeded to so far. “If our demands are not met within the next fortnight, we will evolve a strategy to stop work on the corridor. We are being duped by the Greater Noida Authority officials,” said Manish Bhati, from Katehra village which has come under the impact of the project.
