VANCOUVER Police in Delta, B.C., say a young person was stabbed and taken to hospital Tuesday after an altercation outside a high school. The incident happened outside Burnsview Secondary as classes were being let out, according to police. “This does appear to be an isolated situation that involved a conflict between two students that did unfortunately escalate to violence,” said Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for the Delta Police Department. Police added it s too early to say what led to the altercation. The victim has since been released from hospital and is now back with their family. A suspect was arrested and a search turned up a knife that’s believed to have been used in the assault, Leykauf said.

A team of policemen attached to the Ughelli Police Area Command in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State, Wednesday escaped death after an attack by a gang of gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
The incident happened at a bushy area near Beta Glass company of Ekakpamre community.
Eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident said the policemen who were on routine patrol were taken off guard by the hoodlums who shot sporadically at the police team.
Confirming the incident yesterday, a security source from the command disclosed that the officers involved have been issued queries by the Ughelli Area Commander, Mr Lawal Shinkafi for allegedly embarking on illegal patrol.
Delta Police said they are investigating a fight between two youth at Burnsview Secondary School that ended with one in custody and another in hospital.

The Interim President of the Isoko Development Union Youth Wing, IDU-YW, Comrade Hyacinth Ede Ewariezi, Wednesday, said Isoko youths have no plans to vandalize or commit any form of economic sabotage against the Nigerian State as being speculated in some quarters.
Ewariezi in a statement after an emergency meeting by the youths frowned at a media report credited to one Amos Ogbokor-Etaluku wherein he threatened to shut down oil and gas facilities in Isoko, adding that he (Ewariezi) “is the legitimate and recognized President of the Isoko Youths and reinforce that the said Amos Ogbokor-Etaluku and his co-travellers do not have the mandate of the Isoko youths and people and does not have the authority to deploy the youths towards vandalism and other economic crimes.

Delta State Government has empowered beneficiaries of the Women Empowerment Skills Acquisition Programme (WESAP) with the sum of N60, 000 each to rent shops.
Presenting the money to the beneficiaries, in Asaba, on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Mrs Flora Alatan, said that the ministry decided to present cash to the beneficiaries to forestall any losses due to bank charges.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas, the commissioner assured the beneficiaries, who had not received their complete starter packs, that they would receive them, as soon as the complete items were made available.
