The Delta County Sheriff s Office has announced an opening for a detention deputy that pays between $46,000 and $51,000 per year, based on experience and certification.
Detention facility work is not easy, but it s a good job for the right person. That person could be you or someone you know. The job responsibilities include the maintenance of security, incarceration, and welfare of the inmates.

The Delta Police Department on Wednesday captured a man wanted in a Grand Junction kidnapping, who authorities said had barricaded himself in a hotel room, then fled, only to fall in the parking lot.
Jacob Pierce was suspected in the second-degree kidnapping of a woman in Grand Junction Dec. 5, as well as other offenses.
Wednesday, the DPD acted on information that Pierce, 26, along with a woman, was in a room at the Days Inn in Delta. With Delta County Sheriffâs Office deputies, officers responded to the hotel, knocked on the room door and ordered Pierce to come out.
He did not emerge; instead, officers heard sounds indicating someone was stacking items against the door. After several minutes of ordering Pierce to come out, officers heard items being thrown against the window from inside the room and at that time, the woman, Paige Pierce, 25, came out with her hands up.

The Delta County Sheriffâs Office confirms that its missing persons investigation into the disappearance of Nicholas Aldridge has come to a sad end.
Aldridge was identified Monday as the person whose body was found Dec. 5 in the Adobes, remote Delta County. The 28-year-old had last been in touch with family Nov. 25. He was reported missing after his vehicle was found near Crawford Road.
Cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy and toxicology report; Delta County Sheriff Mark Taylor said the preliminary information indicates exposure.
âI feel for the family, but weâre glad for the family to have some kind of closure,â Taylor said.

The Community Foundation for Delta County helped the Delta County Sheriffâs Office replace its Automated External Defibrillators
ESCANABA When the Community Foundation for Delta County received a call from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office inquiring on the possibility of replacing two old G3 Automated External Defibrillators (AED) that were showing signs of aging and mentioned that the Sherriff Department was adding an addition patrol car in need of one a well, the Community Foundations’ Board of Trustees knew they wanted to help, said Tom Mitchell, board member.
“Replacing one AED is quite expensive, none the less needing 3, so this was weighing on my mind. I wasn’t sure how the Sheriff Department was going to be able to afford to do that. Therefore, I made a call to the Community Foundation for Delta County for direction and or help,” stated Road Patrol Lt. Todd Tardiff. He continued, “The Community Foundation for Delta County step
