Students at Del Mar College continue to turn the wheels on the current truck-driver shortage. I feel a lot of people kind of overlook truck driving but this is a good field to get into, said Patrick Garcia, a current student with the training services.
Garcia is halfway through obtaining his commercial drivers license. This new skill will allow him a bump in a title at work and pay.
On May 8, they will finally be able to stop counting.
After nearly four years of repairs, the center is reopening its doors to the public with new exhibits Saturday for the first time since Hurricane Harvey. It feels great, said Sally Palmer, the communications coordinator for the University of Texas Marine Science Institute. It just feels nice to have this completed and be back in the community.
The center suffered damage from Hurricane Harvey and was forced to build new exhibits after completing repairs to the walls, roof, floors and windows.
When it came time to assess the damage, the staff thought it was reasonable to question the future of the center.
Elderly Man Goes to Beauty School to Learn How to Do Hair and Makeup For Aging Wife
A devoted 79-year-old husband went to a beauty school to get lessons in hair and makeup to help his “beautiful” wife who can no longer get ready by herself.
His wife’s vision was failing and, as a result, she kept burning herself while trying to curl her hair. Thus the husband, who wants to remain anonymous, decided to learn how to use the curling wand and get some tips from the staff at Delmar College of Hair and Esthetics. (SWNS)
“My staff and students were so touched by his sincere wish to help his wife of 50 plus years,” director Carrie Hannah said. “Her appearance has always been something she has taken pride in and it’s important to her so therefore important to him.”

Brothers meet for the 1st time after spending nearly 60 years apart
After being separated for almost six decades, Martin Hauser was finally able to meet his younger brother, Joe Shaw, for the first time last month and the happy occasion was made even sweeter by the fact that it took place right before Shaw s wedding. Hauser was adopted as a baby in 1962 in North Carolina, and after he started having his own children, decided to learn more about his biological parents and any siblings he might have. He took DNA tests and visited ancestry websites, but kept coming up short. Last December, the Children s Home Society tracked down Hauser s biological father s death certificate, and listed as his next of kin was Shaw. Within 15 minutes, Hauser found Shaw on Facebook and sent him a message, and they were soon chatting on the phone. Hauser told WXII he hopes his story will inspire others who are struggling to find information about their biological families.
