Family and friends gathered Sunday afternoon to remember the life of Dane Scott Jr.
Sunday marked nine years since he was shot and killed by a Del City police officer following a pursuit in southeast Oklahoma City. He loved his family a lot, Scott’s mother Deloise Dockins said. We always would have gatherings and he will be the center of attention.
In March 2012, Scott was a senior at Del City High School. Police were attempting to pull Scott over after they said he was seen driving in the middle of the road.
A high-speed chase led to Scott eventually crashing his vehicle. After a scuffle with an officer, he was shot in the back and transported to a hospital where he later died.
