From the biggest snowfall in a century and an exceptional cold snap, to unseasonable highs, this winter has gone from one extreme to another in Spain, swinging within a temperature range of 50ÂºC and keeping everyone in a constant state of surprise. During this past season, which for meteorological purposes started on December 1 and ended on February 28 (as opposed to the astronomical winter, from December 21 to March 20), Spain experienced the entire spectrum of possibilities, âmany extreme, some very adverse and several completely unusual,â says RubÃ©n del Campo, the spokesman for the AEMET national weather agency. Del Campo explains that a storm in late December holds the key to the chain of atypical meteorological episodes that followed. Weekly Fishing Report: March 1, 2021 Los Alamos Daily Post The improving weather conditions and some positive news concerning the COVID-19 pandemic are creating more opportunities for anglers and other outdoor enthusiasts. New Mexico State Parks are now open to all visitors, including those from out-of-state. Camping is now allowed by reservation only. Call the State Parks Reservation Center at: 877.664.7787. The ice-fishing season appears to be headed to an early end. Ice fishing has been closed at Eagle Nest Lake and Fenton Lake since Feb. 4 and it looks like it’s not going to reopen. Lake Maloya near Raton and Heron Lake near Chama are still offering ice fishing. It will likely end soon here too as the weather is forecast to warm up this coming week.

Clayton Lake is closed until March 2021. At Conchas Lake, in accordance with the public health order, effective Jan. 29, N.M. state parks are open to N.M. residents for day-use only.
