With under 90 seconds to play, Spurs were up 5. Like they have done so often this season in late game scenarios they went to their closer; DeMar DeRozan. On the left wing DDR caught the ball looking to size up his opponent, a double came and just like DeMar has said all year long, if a team doubled he would trust his teammates. This is what he did. DeMar gave the ball up to Lonnie Walker IV who had Delon Wright, a great defender in his own right on him. Lonnie went one on one and drove to the rim, as he approached he saw Wright was on his hip and the Kings shot blocker Richaun Holmes was closing in to protect the rim. In a game that had the intensity of a first round playoff series throughout, the San Antonio Spurs worked through a frigid shooting first half and escaped with the hard-fought victory. The Spurs were able to avert their sixth consecutive loss despite horrid shooting from behind the arc (4 for 22). They were able to leverage an advantage in rebounding (44 to 35) and second chance points (13 to 3) along with better half-court execution down the stretch.
The Sacramento Kings saw its surprising win streak end at five and fell 3.5 games behind the Spurs with a scant handful of games remaining. The Kings were paced by confounding star turns by Terence Davis (24 points and 3 steals) and Delon Wright (17 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds).

Three weeks ago, the Sacramento Kings were dead in the water, buried deep in the Western Conference standings with a chance at a playoff spot nothing but a dying ember.
But the Kings have found new life over the past three weeks and will host the swooning San Antonio Spurs on Friday with their postseason hopes restoked after a complete turnaround and recent dominance on the road.
The Kings head home carrying a four-game winning streak, all on the road, that included a 104-93 victory over Indiana on Wednesday. It was Sacramento s first undefeated four-game road trip since April 2003.
