This week also marked the end of the state-wide mask mandate. As of April 5, Governor Holcomb’s mask mandate was reduced to an advisory, with county officials in charge of extending the mandate locally. Delaware County’s commissioners this week placed business owners in charge of mask requirements within their facilities. Several businesses have stated masks are still required in their stores. Masks are still required in Delaware County government buildings. Though there is no official county-wide mask mandate, County Commissioner Shannon Henry has advocated for the continuation of masks and social distancing. “It’s the best defense that we have. I will still continue to wear a mask when going out in public, and we still urge everyone to wear masks when they can t socially distance themselves, even without the mandate,” he said. “We want the individual businesses to be able to do what they feel is in the best interest of their employees and patrons.”
