A Texas lawmaker has proposed a change to the state s castle doctrine - our version of a stand your ground law .
Back on November 9, Democratic District 105 Representative Terry Meza introduced House Bill 196, which, according to Meza, would require a homeowner to exhaust the potential of safely retreating into their habitation before using deadly force in defense of themselves or their property .
While the bill does not seek to eliminate Texas castle doctrine, it would alter it in a way that s obviously very controversial in one the nation s most intensely pro-Second Amendment states.
While some people see the change as a way of avoiding shedding blood unnecessarily, others see it as a potential welcome mat for thieves and predators.
