DOGS BEING PREPARED by volunteers to board Freedom Flight
Photo courtesy Stephan Hornsey Social Share AFTER BEING RESCUED from the streets, some in very bad condition, 33 healthy dogs were flown out on the ‘Freedom Flight’ of Thursday, May 20, to destination Florida, where several have already been adopted into homes there.
It is the first collective flight of its kind done by the Vincentian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VSPCA), and was made possible by the non-profit organisation ‘Wings of Rescue’, led by Ric Browde.
Other entities that provided assistance to the VSPCA leading up to the flight were: Tito’s Handmade Vodka and the spirits company’s Vodka for Dog People program; Chewy; the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW); The Fleece Foundation, and Dr. Annique Boyle of Unique Animal Care.
TORONTO Police are looking for three suspects they consider to be armed and dangerous in connection with a shooting in North York last September that left one man dead. In a news release issued Wednesday, police released surveillance images of the three men in an effort to identify them. On Sept. 24, police were called to the area of Shoreham Drive and Gosford Boulevard at approximately 8:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Investigators believe that four people entered the northwest entrance of 89 Gosford Boulevard and three of them discharged their firearms in the direction of six men who were playing dominoes.
After nine months of investigating and intercepting 50,000 phone calls, cops moved in and rounded up the suspected crew members.
They also seized body armour stamped with “Police,” handcuffs, police-style radios, stun guns, handguns, a silencer, 300 marijuana plants, $140,000 in stolen lawn mowers, $1.6 million in stolen power tools, $108,000 in cash, and 15 stolen vehicles.

As part of Project Betrayal, Lainas, a member of the Hells Angels Simcoe chapter, was allegedly nabbed with a kilogram of cocaine and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
