A girl under the age of 10 from Winnipeg is the latest Manitoban to die from COVID-19, public health officials announced Sunday. The death is not believed linked to any outbreak or variant of concern.
Manitoba’s death toll is now 1,139 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.5% provincially and 6.9% in Winnipeg, up from Saturday’s numbers of 6.1% and 6.7% respectively.
Ninety-seven new cases of the virus have been identified, rising the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 55,975. Of the new cases, 50 are from Winnipeg along with 16 from Northern, 14 from Interlake-Eastern, 12 from Southern and five from Prairie Mountain.
