Bowden: No Offers For Town Players Saturday, 7th Jun 2008 10:39
Town chief executive Derek Bowden says the Blues are yet to receive offers for any of their players. Yesterday, Stoke City were reported to have shown interest in striker Jon Walters.
Bowden said: We have had no offers for contracted players and we are not inviting any either.â€
Manager Jim Magilton made five players – Gary Roberts, Matt Richards, Billy Clarke, Dan Harding and Gavin Williams – available for transfer last month, but Bowden says that while the club has received some interest, there have been no firm bids.
Meanwhile, it is reported that chairman David Sheepshanks has twice offered to relinquish his position as chairman since Marcus Evans took over the club at the end of last year, only to be asked to stay by the Blues owner.
Town chairman David Sheepshanks hailed the club s exit from administration as an important milestone in the process of recovery. Sheepshanks was speaking at a press conference called after the board regained control of the club from administrators Deloitte and Touche.
