Shotton HMO plans receive the green light

PLANS to convert a family home in Shotton into a house in multiple occupation (HMO) have been given the green light after concerns it could lead to more crime were dismissed. Senior councillors were told last month that an increasing number of complaints have been raised about crime in the town. As a result, members of the ruling Labour cabinet appoved the creation of a master plan to improve the area. Fears were raised that the latest proposals for a five-bedroom HMO on Chester Road East could jeopardise efforts to regenerate the town by adding to the anti-social behaviour problems.

Leitrim man charged with having in excess of €13,000 of drugs for sale or supply Reporter:   ); A young Mohill man who, is charged with having drugs for sale or supply in excess of €13,000 in Sligo, was returned for Circuit Court trial next June, at last Thursday’s sitting of Sligo District Court. 23-year-old Eoin Heaney, Drumgowna, Mohill is charged with possession of MDMA for sale or supply at Ballinode on April 9, 2018. He is also charged with possession of the drug to the value of €810 for sale or supply on the same date and at the same location. The defendant is charged with possession of N-Ethydylpentylone for sale or supply to the value of €13,000 at Mulberry Park, Sligo on April 18, 2018.

Flintshire s commitment to social enterprise recognised with national award

The SEUK award acknowledges the amount, quality and range off social enterprise activity within a geographical area. A stakeholder group of social enterprises from across Flintshire spent a year, supported by Mike Dodd, the Council’s Social Enterprise Officer, preparing the application. This involved a review of social enterprise activity across the County as well as the development of a strategy for social enterprise in Flintshire, both of which were judged by a panel of social enterprise experts at SEUK. Flintshire is now part of a network of 32 Social Enterprise Places nationwide. This will allow social enterprises from Flintshire the opportunity to share skills, experiences and network with like-minded organisations across the country.

At an earlier sitting, 22-year-old Stephen Loughlin, Cloonlougher, Manorhamilton pleaded guilty to charges that he stole a wallet and credit cards belonging to another at Kelly’s Bar, Ballygawley on December 7, 2019. He also pleaded guilty to using a bank card at the Miner’s Bar, at Derrynavogey, Arigna to the value of €22.10 on December 8.
