TAYLOR, MI (WXYZ) â A beloved Taylor teacher is in for the fight of his life against stage four cancer. Now, the community is rallying around Derek Kaunelis and his frailly.
It was back in February that Derek was rushed to the emergency room. At the time, he and his wife figured he likely had COVID-19. Not only did he test positive for the virus, but his labs indicated something else was wrong.

Runners who participate in road races to raise money for charities have had to get a little creative during the pandemic, but one Boston-area teacher has found a way to make a momentous run involving the people she is helping as she marks a day of global significance.
Dorchester teacher Caitlin Shanley will be running 21 miles around Boston on March 21 to raise money for the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress. Along the way, she plans on stopping at the homes of seven of her students for a little inspiration and cheer in what she is calling “21 Miles of the Best Smiles.”

NORFOLK, Va. Norfolk Public Schools announced it hit a major milestone on Friday.
The division says it has given out two million free meals since schools shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic.
We re told the Department of School Nutrition has served 32,000 Grab and Go meals every day. Employees prepare and pack-up breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack, for any kid who needs one.
Meals are distributed each weekday from 3 to 5 p.m. at 34 different school cafeterias across the city. Meals can be picked up at any open school. Parents who are picking up meals for students should be prepared to provide the student’s lunch ID information, as well as the school in which they are enrolled.
