Mr. Ira ‘Wade’ Coubrough of Edson, Alberta, currently residing in Blackfalds, passed away suddenly at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the age of 56 years. Wade was born in Germany on January 28, 1964; while his parents were posted overseas, as his father was in the Air Force. They moved back to Canada in 1967, and he was finally able to meet his extended family. Wade started school at Air Marshal Johnson School, Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Wade always had very fond memories of PEI, as they were some of his first. In 1973, the family was posted to Moosonee, Ontario, for two years. More great memories of friends and adventures in a northern community; where the only way to reach the Radar Base was by train. Snow machines and bikes were the common ways to travel, or by boat for trips to Moose Factory. In 1974, the family’s next move was closer to his parent’s roots, CFB Penhold, Alberta. 1934 ~ Eileen Howie (Schwedelsky) ~ 2020 Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Eileen Howie at Bethany Didsbury on December 25th, 2020 at the age of 86 years. Eileen was born in Leipzig, Germany on May 29th, 1934 to the late Cecilia and Joseph Schwedelsky. She married Clifford Howie on July 3rd, 1954 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. Together, they raised four children in the home that they built in 1967, in Didsbury. They shared a wonderful life together for fifty-three years until Cliff`s passing in 2007, during which time they travelled to Germany, England, Scotland, and Ireland. Eileen had a passion for curling, knitting, and gardening, and was well known for her love of playing bingo. Eileen will be fondly remembered for her delicious home baked cinnamon rolls, buns, and maple walnut fudge. Although her recipes were passed on to other generations, no one has been able to replicate the meticulously baked goodies and homemade meals since her first

1925 ~ He Will Be Missed Hugh Edward Brown ~ 2020

Hugh Brown, 95 years young, passed away at home on December 23, 2020 in Red Deer, Alberta. Born in Stavely Alberta, after High School he joined the Royal Canadian Airforce and spent his time in eastern Canada in communications. Upon returning from service he farmed in Drumheller, started a commercial business in Calgary and then after moving to Westerose, Alberta farmed for over 55 years. After retiring Hugh and his wife of 73 years, Connie, moved to Red Deer. Hugh led an active life enjoying farming, nature, and his horses. He was involved in toastmasters, loved dancing at the Legion, and developed a great interest in the stock market. Hugh is survived by his loving wife Connie and six children, Dennis, Judy, Linell, Rilda, Mark and David and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his ten siblings and son Jon. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Posted Jan 8, 2021 5:12 PM It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Bernard Joseph ‘Ben’ Gebbink of Red Deer, Alberta at Extendicare Michener Hill, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, January 1, 2021 at the age of 92 years. Ben was born on March 16, 1928 in Zieuwent, Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada in 1952; where he worked on a farm in Quebec, before he moved to Alberta. As planned, Mom also immigrated, and met Dad in Twin Butte, where they were married in 1953. After a short stay in Vauxhall, they moved to Red Deer in 1956. Shortly after they arrived, they purchased an acreage west of Red Deer, where they resided for almost sixty years. In 2015, they moved into Victoria Park, Red Deer. Here, they enjoyed their community; until Dad’s failing health required a three month stay in the hospital. He was then placed into Long Term Care at Extendicare. Iowa City woman charged with domestic assault

01/08/21 An Iowa City woman was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after allegedly throwing an object at a man during a domestic incident. According to reports, a verbal argument began between 55-year-old Dana Easson of Taylor Drive and the man at a residence on Muscatine Avenue. At one point in the argument, Easson is accused of taking a glass candle warmer and throwing it at the man. She then reportedly followed him into a bedroom and threatened to stab him with a screwdriver. The man was uninjured as the candle warmer missed him. Easson was taken into custody and charged with domestic abuse assault with display or use of a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years if convicted.
