Moore started Mama Moore’s Gourmet Popcorn in 2012, selling fresh-popped kettle corn at area fairs and festivals. The veteran had worked in manufacturing and the corporate world for years, but was looking for a new challenge not to mention a way to help pay for her youngest son’s college tuition.

Chicago public schools have been closed since March. A statement signed by 147 school nurses (see text below) says: “Many of us are CPS parents ourselves, and all wish to be back in school buildings, but the simple fact is that it is currently not safe to do this.”

Support grows and broadens for Madison Eagle Christmas Fund

Madison Eagle Christmas Fund broadly this year. On Wednesday, Dec. 2, Stacey Smollen, co-chair of MECF, accepted a $300 donation from Madison heART art classes and the East Coast Elf Conference 2020. Smollen says she was honored to receive the check directly from one of the elves. Then, on Nov. 27, “Crafted of Madison”, a craft studio for creative kids, organized an outdoor event in support of the MECF. Children and their families set out blankets on a warm winter’s day to make festive holiday ornaments. Crafted designed and supplied the makings of these ornaments, and ensured a portion of the proceeds went to support the MECF.
