JJ Mazza is a young Downbeat award winning drummer in the Denver area. A junior at the Denver School of the Arts, JJ has already put together an impressive resume, including: Denver School of the Arts Jazz Workshop Orchestra, Colorado All-State Jazz Band (2019,2021), Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Competition and Festival (2019,2020), UNC Jazz Festival, Blues Foundation International Blues Challenge, ASTA National Orchestra Festival, Five Points Jazz Festival, and more.
JJ’s Quintet focuses on breathing new life into traditional jazz standards by emphasizing the connection between music of the past and music. Guitarist Joscho Stephan, of German decent and is a modern Gypsy Jazz guitarist known for being a blinding virtuoso. Joscho performed with Aaron Walker – Guitar, Claude Sim – Violin, and Gary Sloan – Bass.
Jude is a Denver based trumpet player who enjoys playing and appreciates all forms of art from the paintings of Jean-Michel Basquiat to the music of Miles Davis. He found his passion for music early by enrolling at Denver School of the Arts and has continued that love for music beyond that. He is very grateful for the opportunity to share some of his favorite compositions from himself and his musical heroes along with a band with some of his biggest mentors and friends from the Denver area.

Former Washoe District Court Judge Steven Elliott died Tuesday after a brief battle with cancer. He was 72.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the Honorable Steve Elliott aka The Judge, as he was known to many, his family said in a short statement. In addition to his legal career, public service, being a friend and advocate for Nevada, the judge was an amazing husband, father and grandfather with countless friends, who will be sorely missed. The judge loved and lived life and we will cherish and remember all those memories.”
