PRESTIGIOUS Blue Flags have been awarded at 12 locations in Pembrokeshire in recognition of their high coastal standards. No flags were flown last year in Wales, due to COVID19 restriction, but there are now flying at 42 beaches and three marinas. In Pembrokeshire, they include Amroth, Newgale, Saundersfoot, Dale, Whitesands, Coppet Hall, Tenby North, Tenby South, Tenby Castle, Poppit Sands, Lydstep, and Broadhaven North. This year is seen a real cause for celebration as beaches and marinas continue to maintain a high standard of water quality, cleanliness and environmental practices during very challenging circumstances. “We are lucky to have some of the world’s best beaches and marinas on our doorstep, said Keep Wales Tidy Chief Executive, Lesley Jones.
Some beaches will not be allowing dogs as of May 1 As May 1 approaches, restrictions on beaches will be put in place when considering allowing dogs onto them. 11 beaches across Pembrokeshire will have either complete or partial canine restrictions from May 1 to September 30. Whitesands and Tenby North are the two beaches which will have complete canine restrictions for the five months. Tenby Castle Beach will have a complete restriction on dogs except to the left of the slipway for access to the boats. Amroth, Lydstep, Tenby South, Saundersfoot, Dale, Broad Haven North, Newgale and Poppit are the beaches which will have restrictions on dogs on approximately one third of the beach.
