It was a nice, sunny day to recognize the top team for the Coldest Night of the Year.
The Cassellhomies team – staff from Cassellholme Home for the Aged – raised a full 10 per cent of the $50,000-plus raised for the annual fundraiser for The Gathering Place.

And despite restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s fundraiser “was probably one of the best we’ve had,” Gathering Place executive director Dennis Chippa said.
Altogether, 24 or 25 teams took part in the effort this year, which, due to the pandemic, had to rely on some innovation on the part of participants.

It’s been a difficult year for the Gathering Place.
However, the soup kitchen is ready to “provide a light in the darkness” once again with its Bell Canada Coldest Night of the Year fundraising event, executive director Dennis Chippa says.
