Tension in Edo community over new traditional head

Tension has mounted in Iguobazuwa, the administrative headquarters of Ovia South West local government area of Edo State following a dispute over occupant of the traditional stool.

By Ozioruva Aliu BENIN CITY – THE member representing Ovia Federal constituency, Hon Dennis Idahosa yesterday averted what could have snowballed into a communal war in Edo state when he waded into the traditional leadership in Iguobazuwa, Ovia South West local government area pledging to ensure its peaceful resolution.   While addressing youths of the community, Idahosa said the people must always see that which binds them together rather than that which separate them.    Idahosa said, apart from been  member representing the constituency, the matter is dear to him and would be resolved without any form of violence since he is from Iguobazuwa.

The federal lawmaker, while addressing the youths of the community, urged the people to place more premium on what binds them together rather than what separates them, pledging that he would see to the amicable resolution of the matter.

47 Edo communities cut off by lack of link bridge – Lawmaker

Punch Newspapers Sections Adeyinka Adedipe, Benin About 47 communities in the Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State have become inaccessible due to the absence of a link bridge. The lawmaker representing the Ovia Federal Constituency, Mr Dennis Idahosa, said this in Benin on Thursday through his media aide, Mr Friday Aghedo, adding that the people of the communities have had to endure years of hardship. He said that lack of a link bridge at Umaza, had not only affected their social live, but had also negatively impacted on their means of livelihood. He called on the relevant government agency, especially the Federal Ministry of Works, to come to the aide of the communities by constructing a standard link bridge.
