Former Lee Cabinet Staff Create New Public Affairs And Strategic Counseling Firm Monday, March 1, 2021
Chris Devaney and Chris Walker, two former members of Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s cabinet and his campaign for governor, have joined together to create The Poplar Group, a new public affairs and strategic counseling firm with offices in Tennessee and Washington, D.C. The firm will focus on professional services both in Tennessee and nationally with a particular focus on public affairs, campaigns, and advocacy.
“I’m excited to start this new venture,” said Mr. Devaney, a founding partner. “Having spent over two decades in politics and public policy, and helping our state build super majorities, I’m confident we can help our clients meet their goals.”

The University of Central Florida football program has reportedly make a big offer for its head coaching position.
According to a report form the Orlando Sentinel, the Group of 5 program has offered its head coaching position to a former SEC head coach.
Matt Murschel and Mike Bianci of the Orlando Sentinel are reporting that the UCF head coaching job has been offered to former Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn.

WSU’s starting football quarterback was suspended after being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence last weekend.
Jayden de Laura, 19-year-old freshman sport management major, was charged with a DUI, said Pullman Police Cmdr. Jake Opgenorth. De Laura was also charged with driving without a license and against traffic down a one-way street.
Bill Stevens, associate director of WSU Athletics, said the Athletics department is aware of the situation but cannot comment because it is a legal matter. Stevens confirmed de Laura has been suspended indefinitely, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

Former University of Central Florida head coach Josh Heupel is going to be the Tennessee Volunteers new head football coach.
The former national champion quarterback at OU was also the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Bob Stoops. The University of Tennesse confirmed the news on its website Wednesday morning. Heupel led UCF to a 28–8 record in three seasons with the team.

ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Central Florida football coach Josh Heupel has left to take over as the Tennessee Volunteers’ head coach.
On Wednesday, Tennessee Football tweeted out, Welcome to Rocky Top, @coachjoshheupel ! I am thrilled to be coming to Tennessee, Heupel said. I understand that Volunteer fans are hungry for a return to the top that they so richly deserve, and it is my goal and commitment to bring a championship back to Rocky Top.
