Mayor Strickland promised improvements Thursday, after Tennessee Health Department investigators - citing mismanagement and more than 2,400 expired and wasted doses - abruptly shifted vaccine operations from the Shelby County Health Department to the City of Memphis indefinitely.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. Walmart will begin administering Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines in Memphis with a drive thru clinic at the Walmart Supercenter at 5255 Elvis Presley Blvd. starting Feb. 25th through the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Eligible patients can schedule a vaccine appointment via the Walmart website, making it convenient to get vaccinated while vaccine supplies last. Vaccines will be available to those who meet the current phase of vaccine eligibility in Tennessee which can be found at the State of Tennessee Health Department website and/or the Shelby County Health Department website.
Shelby County health officials anticipate teachers will get vaccinated in March

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County health officials say they have to get through the majority of the population that is eligible for the vaccine now before moving on to teachers.
Tuesday, Shelby County Health Director Dr. Alisa Haushalter said it’s likely the county will move into phase 1-B, which includes teachers, next month.

Haushalter went on to say the Tennessee Department of Health recommended the county hold off on moving up phases until they’ve completed phases 1a1, 1a2 and have a majority of the 70-plus population vaccinated.
