AB Contracting, an earthmoving and quarry product supplies and transport company, has been operating from its Sandy Flat site as a home business . However according to town planner Anthony Daintith, who prepared a report on the development application for Tenterfield Shire Council, the business has grown and employs more than 20 people, necessitating the requirement for development consent to operate . The development application for the site on Holleys Rd has been given the green light by the council after a close vote, with Mayor Peter Petty using his casting vote to get it over the line. According to documents lodged with the council, the campground would have just four Bubblesuites and one Tiny Bubble . Subscriber only A Northern NSW quarry is being closely monitored after a number of complaints in recent months. In a February update on Dowes Quarry and the Sunnyside Processing Plant at Tenterfield, the Environmental Protection Authority said it was continuing to check that operators were complying with the licence conditions. The EPA issued the quarry operator with a formal warning in May 2020, following our investigation of a report from the community that quarrying activities were being carried out at Dowes on a public holiday, a spokesperson from the EPA said.
