DETROIT – Police are still investigating several fatal hit-and-run cases that have yet to be solved.
One Detroit mother knows the pain of losing a loved and is hoping that no one else has to experience something similar.
“We really miss him,” Rutland said. “It is terrible. It’s so sudden. You just look around and your loved one is gone.”
“It happens every day. Someone is either hit or killed by a car,” she added.
Detroit police are still looking for the drivers responsible for multiple fatal hit-and-run incidents across the city, including Emory’s case. On May 15, a 46-year-old was killed while riding a moped near Military and Lindsdale streets.

Kani Oliver was shot and killed on Nov. 28, 2020, on Log Cabin Street near Brighton Street.
Investigators said Oliver had just picked up a friend when he was killed. His mother hopes someone will come forward with information leading to finding the killer.
“I never understood why his heart was so big. And why he believed that everybody was good but we all know that there are some bad people out here,” said Oliver’s mother, Angelica Harris. “We have to take our community back. If we start speaking up, they will stop because they know someone is going to tell.”

DETROIT – The family of a Detroit woman who was shot and killed inside her own home is pleading for answers.
Tamra Steele was found shot on Dec. 1 and since then there have been no arrests in her killing.
Even during her night shift at a restaurant in West Virginia, Kimberly Mosser would stop to talk to her little sister, Tamra Steele.
“Fun would have been the best way to describe her,” Mosser said.
Mosser said she is frustrated that no arrests have been made.

DETROIT – A mausoleum at a cemetery on Detroit’s west side was broken into early Sunday morning.
According to authorities, the damage was discovered just before 5 a.m. Police said an unknown number of suspects broke into a mausoleum at a cemetery located near the intersection of Fort and Woodmere streets and attempted to gain entry into another.
Police said nothing appeared to have been stolen.
The investigation is ongoing.
