Friday, January 15, 2021 Lewes Mayor and City Council is in favor of annexation for the property at 1145 Savannah Road, near the crossing for the Lewes-to-Georgetown Trail.  Christine Jones, owner and vice president of Jones Enterprise Brewing LLC and Lewes Brewing Company LLC, submitted the annexation application to city officials in December. The company intends to build a micro or nano brewery on the property with a small tasting room. An ad hoc annexation committee comprising all members of council except Mayor Ted Becker found there were no downsides to bringing the property into the city. If it is ultimately annexed, the committee determined the appropriate zoning for the property is general commercial. However, before annexation can move forward, city code must be amended to allow for a microbrewery to be a permitted use within the general commercial zone.
